March 30, 2018
Like last year, a few of us planned to embark on a 100 km ride today, Good Friday. Last year there were just three of us but this year there are four. Same plan as last year to cover as many cities as possible from East to North then South.
Because of the excellent ride feel last year, the Niner RLT 9 steel is the weapon of choice. The same wheelset from Gipiemme with Clement LAS tires gave me confidence and performance will be relied on once more.
I got to Makati late so I met up with the guys along Valero Street and we headed to Mandaluyong, San Juan, C-3, then Marcos Road en route to Manila where we had our Intramuros "tour." Our first major stop is at White Knight Hotel Intramuros where we loaded caffeine.
From Manila we took Roxas Boulevard and on to Seaside Boulevard. Boy, I miss that place where I used to practice.
We arrived at Gatchalian Village and we took another break.
Finally, we reached Alabang and we headed to Commercenter to have lunch at Elbert's Cheesesteak. This is the last time we will be here as the popular sandwich place is moving back to Rockwell in Makati.
Just like last year, I ordered the Shrimp Po'Boy which has become a favorite.
After much needed rest, we headed home via BF, C-5 extension, then Sales Bridge where I took Pasong Tamo as the group heads back to BGC.
I didn't reach 100 km but I'm glad I made it back to the office safely.
