Filinvest Trails

July 21, 2016

I've heard a lot about the Filinvest trails and today, I finally found an opportunity to ride them. My friends from the south invited me and I was excited to take the Niner and hit the trails.

Last thing first. After the ride, I discovered that where I was told to park is NOT a parking area. I was issued an illegal parking ticket that costs P200.

This area is near corner Laguna Heights Dr. and Corporate Woods Avenue. That gate you see is the entrance to Palms Pointe Village.

Niner meet Canyon.

The Filinvest trails is made up of 8 or 9 separate trails and we sometimes have to cross roads to get to the next one.

I tried to deconstruct the trails from the GPS map and Strava segments.

  Entry Exit Strava Segment Distance
1 Corner of Parkway Avenue & Filinvest Avenue Along Filinvest Avenue near Alabang Creek Side Trail 0.6 km

2 Along Filinvest Avenue near Alabang Creek (refer to map above) Filinvest Avenue near corner Corporate Avenue N/A N/A
3 Corporate Avenue near corner Filinvest Avenue Corporate Woods Avenue SLEX Trail 1 0.8 km

4 S Corporate Avenue Corporate Avenue SLEX Trail 2 0.3 km

5 Corporate Woods Avenue near corner S Corporate Avenue Pacific Rim Ext. Section 5 0.7 km

6 Pacific Rim Ext. near corner Corporate Woods Avenue Corporate Woods Avenue Play ground 0.4 km

7 Pacific Rim Ext. corner Laguna Height Drive Promenade Pacific Rim Sprint 0.4 km

8 Promenade Pacific Rim Ext Speed lab (in blue) + King of the Hill

You'll notice that the distances of the Strava segments do not reflect the actual distances of the trails.

Oh crap moments...

In one of the very steep ascents, the steerer and stem got loose and it twisted causing me to fall at the top. Thankfully, Nico has tools and we were able to tighten the stem.

Stupid moment. Entering the next trail, I lifted the front of the bike too early and caused an Endo.

The third and last fall is brought to me at the King of the Hill segment where I wasn't fast enough to make the turn and hit a rock. Second endo.

It hurts me that I caused this to my bike...

But the most stupid moment was when I thought I was recording all these on my SJ4000 Wi-Fi. It turned out I didn't press the record button hard enough, so I go zero, nada, zilch, video from this momentous ride.

My Niner after the ride.

And finally, here is the panorama of the last trail I didn't ride because I'm tired and I don't have the skill.
