La Mesa Nature Reserve

April 2, 2015

Finally after previous failed attempts, we were able to book a ride to La Mesa Nature Reserve fitting my schedule. I don't know what to expect other than this is a huge place and based on the group's previous ride where we had a casualty, it scares me a bit.

Mid way to the venue, I realized I forgot my wallet. Thankfully, I have nice friends who are all willing to lend me money at 0% interest.

As we wait for other members

Our guide is Noel who led the way and I happen to just follow him and heed his calls when he shouts "downhill!" or "ahon!" where the latter makes me screm expletives.

When we got to our first stop, I didn't realize it was about 10km already. Somehow, I enjoyed it.

Resting on first stop

We continued riding until we hit the area where there's a vendor on a jeep. Finally got my Gatoraid fix. My problem when riding is I don't get to take photos too much as I'm pre-occupied with something else, so no photos of Manong the vendor.

Second stop-over

At this point there was deliberation on either to push thru up to View Deck or return. The two La Mesa Nature Reserve veterans convinced us to continue onwards and the plan was to have us picked up at View Deck.

So we pedalled along and we finally reached the View Deck.

After taking photos, we asked Noel to call for the pick up and we were told we can't be picked up as the vehicle is doing other errands. Left without a choice, we have to pedal/push back. I was told we covered some 30km for this ride. I was so exhausted and the irony was when we reached homebase, the pick up was arriving.
