The EcoFlow PowerOcean system

It's time to validate the assumptions I made regarding compatibility and functionality.

  • The first step is to unbind the two Powerstream as they will be decommissioned.
  • A new space has been created for the PowerOcean, this will be the new home of all devices.
  • The next step is to unbind the old devices from their respective spaces and move them to the new PowerOcean space I named /home/arnoldc
  • Configure each device accordingly.

The app is what EcoFlow calls OASIS, but it's just the same EcoFlow app I've been using since getting the Powerstream. It runs on both iOS and Android devices. This is the main screen, and below the header are three tabs namely, PowerOcean, STREAM system, and Others.

In the STREAM system tab, the Ultra and AC Pro are grouped along with the Shelly 3EM (not visible). The Ultra still has the four 435W panels connected to its PV ports, and currently show the harvest (Solar). The battery percentage is the average charge of the Ultra and the AC Pro (Battery) and finally, the sum of the loads connected to their local AC1 and AC2 ports (Home).

 

To ensure that they will not interfere with the grid feed, both their base load is set to zero (0).

The STREAM Ultra will be charged via solar so it will just run in self-powered mode (solar only) and will not be plugged to the grid. Why not plug it to the grid and let distributed mode work? No, it will no longer work as they used to. When the AC Pro need to charge, it will send a request to the Ultra to feed the grid that the AC Pro will consume, but since the grid is now under the control of the PowerOcean, the AC Pro will be served by the feed from the PowerOcean instead. This behaviour has been verified.

For the AC Pro, it will be plugged to the grid as usual to charge based on the custom schedule I set according to my needs.

 

2pm to 4pm is the sweet spot where it can have exclusive access to power as my weekend charging of the Seagull ends at 2pm, and the weekday charging starts at 5pm.

The Others tab contains the rest of my EcoFlow and 3rd party devices. 

The Delta 2 Max has two flexible 200W panels connected to it that charge it a little daily. For proper charging of the Delta 2 Max and Wave 2 (with Delta 2 extra battery), I utilized a feature in the PowerOcean that I truly like. It's called Surplus solar allocation, and it works like a charm.

 

In the app System components section, you can add the designated EcoFlow SmartPlug as part of the Power consumption device and the PowerOcean will allocate surplus solar harvest to depending on priority and power requirements.

 

This feature is fantastic for "controllable loads" that include the EV charger PowerPulse2! Unfortunately, this product has yet to be distributed by Enable.
